Responsibilities of Residents
1) All residents must take part in an optimum number of night shifts each month:
First year 10 shifts, second year 8 shifts, third year 6 shifts, and forth year 5 shifts.
2) Supervision of senior residents on junior residents, interns and students of medicine during each shift.
3) Responding to patients' problems during a 24 hour shift.
4) Continuous supervision on correct performance of physician orders.
5) History taking must be done by each resident individually.
6) Active participation in general conferences of internal medicine ward (grand round, journal club).
7) Preparation of reports and summaries of patients scheduled to be presented in conferences (by senior residents).
8) Fulfilling all responsibilities before end of each working shift.
9) Being present in the hospital according to schedule proposed by head of each department.
10) Changing shifts is possible only if senior resident is previously informed, a substitute assigned, and unit of education affairs informed.
11) Accompanying severely ill patients during transportation to other sections of the hospital.
12) Being present in out patient clinic on assigned days: 8:30 am.
