Diagnostic procedures performed in this unit
Diagnostic procedures performed by Fiberoptic bronchoscopy are visualized by advanced videoscopes. These procedures consist of Broncho- Alveolar Lavage , biopsy of tumoral and suspicious tissues in airways, and Broncho-alveolar toilet in airway of patients with bronchectasis.
With addition of C-arm radiography in the near future, hidden and out of reach lesions can be directly and precisely evaluated.
Target patients: Patients are admitted for fiberoptic bronchoscopy from out patient clinic, internal and pediatrics ward, and intensive care unit.
In the interventional bronchoscopy section rigid bronchoscopy, laser therapy, stent placement, and intra-bronchial injection are performed for patients with tracheal stenosis, benign and malignant tumors, foreign bodies, and rare airway lesions.
Patient admission: Patients are admitted from out patient clinic or wards as in-patients.
