The National Research Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases (NRITLD) strives to be an international leader in generating, applying and disseminating new medical knowledge for the benefit of all. As such, research is given high priority and is fully integrated with teaching activities.
The Faculty's excellence in this area is amply demonstrated. NRITLD supports a thriving community of talented research faculty and staff, and helps to advance their ideas, discoveries and innovations in lung diseases to our community and our society.
With support from the governmental and the private sector the Faculty has attracted many investigators. Together, they have created a vibrant environment for basic and applied research covering a wide spectrum in lung diseases.
Internationally, NRITLD is focused on promoting collaborative research programs and exchange opportunities for graduate students and faculty members with peer institutions worldwide. We maintain a wide range of formal and informal agreements with organizations and universities around the world.

2- TB, MDR-TB, TB/HIV (epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment)
3- Pediatric chronic pulmonary diseases
4- Air pollution
5- Pulmonary occupational diseases
6- Primary hypertension, Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
7- Methods of pain relief following thoracotomy
8- Pulmonary and thoracic pathology, immunohistochemistry, flowcytometry, molecular biology
9- Reducing drug complications, producing new drugs and assessing their efficacy
10- Oncology of thorax and thoracic surgery
